Gopinath earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from IIT Kanpur, where he worked jointly with Dr. Sameer Khandekar and Dr. K. Muralidhar. His doctoral research focused on investigation of liquid jet and spray impingement heat transfer over high-power electronics. Currently, he is working with Professor Justin A. Weibel and Prof. Tiwei Wei at CTRC and S-PACK to explore the intrinsic relationship between flow hydrodynamics and heat transfer characteristics for various active thermal management techniques.
